Blind Science vs. Blind Faith: Some Thoughts on Breaking the Deadlock

Students in our colleges and universities live constantly in a tension between two authority systems: one more or less vaguely associated with science and the other with religion. Both systems are “blind” in the sense that the edicts they impose on thought and behavior are never, for the vast majority of people, reduced to anything close to understanding, verification, or proof. An illustration comes from a recent experience reported by one of my students.

No Pluralism In Moral Matters

Pluralism urges us to regard alternative ways of being and acting as equally acceptable. But Does the idea of pluralism make any sense as applied to morality? Or does pluralism become an issue only so far as morality is not at issue?

The Human Body and Spiritual Growth

"Spiritual formation" is the process through which those who love and trust Jesus Christ effectively take on His character. When this process is what it should be, they increasingly live their lives as He would if He were in their place. Their outward conformity to His example and His instructions rises toward fullness as their inward sources of action take on the same character as His. They come more and more to share His vision, love, hope, feelings and habits. In the language of His "Great Commission" to His disciples, they are "taught to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:20)

Renewing the Christian Mind

In this wide-ranging collection of essential readings from Dr. Willard—including 15 previously unpublished chapters—we find wisdom, knowledge and truth for growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Living in Christ's Presence

Dallas teamed up with John Ortberg in February 2013 for the Dallas Willard Center's inaugural conference in Santa Barbara, California. John and Dallas have been ministry partners for decades, which was quite evident as they taught together and shared insights into living more fully in the presence of Christ daily.

Until Christ is Formed in You

This collection explores Dallas’s unique perspective and teaching on topics including the Beatitudes, the relationship of body and soul, the kingdom of God, discipleship to Jesus, the nature of formation, and Ignatian spirituality.
