We will gather together for a total of four week-long residencies at the beautiful Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center in Sierra Madre, California. Students will do most of the reading and study on their own, but because these ideas are better explored in community and made richer through discussion, there will also be online interaction during the months between the gatherings.
The retreat center is a Passionist monastery nestled in the Sierra Madre mountains just north of Pasadena. The guest rooms offer comfort and privacy, as well as a glimpse into the simplicity of monastic life. Each room is equipped with a twin XL bed, desk, guest chair and private bathroom with shower. Bedding, towels and soap are provided.
The property has countless indoor and outdoor areas to spend time alone with God, including beautifully manicured gardens and an outdoor Amphitheater with a view that reaches out over the Los Angeles basin all the way to the ocean on a clear day. You will also want to take time to walk through stunning Stations of the Cross and spend some time in front of the cross and in (yes in) the empty tomb.
Mater Dolorosa is the perfect setting to let go of the busyness of life and experience life with God.
