Volunteer Team

Dallas Willard Ministries is looking for volunteers to help us develop more study tools for personal growth, and create resources to bring what we’ve learned from Dallas to new audiences. We invite you to consider joining our volunteer team to invest your time and talents into these efforts.

Meet Our Volunteer Coordinator

Dawn Skirvin

Dawn comes to DWM from Orange County, California. She holds a Bachelor's degree in organizational management from Hope International University and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Soul Shepherding. She retired after a 30+ year career as a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner at the University of California, Irvine, Health System. After graduating from the third cohort of the School of Kingdom Living, where she discovered a community of like-minded Christ-followers and gained a deeper experience of life in the Kingdom of God now, she volunteered to participate in the vision of Dallas Willard Ministries by sharing her H.R. experience with us. Dawn now coordinates the efforts of our growing team of volunteers, and we praise the Lord for bringing us her expertise!

Job Descriptions

Proofreader

Proofreading is required for everything we post as we seek to honor the careful attention Dallas gave to everything he published. This includes articles, transcripts, handouts, outlines, presentation slides, and webpages.

Required Skills:

• Proficient skills in grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Clear communication with DWM staff

Course Registrar

Help us share Dallas's teaching with a broader audience through teaching opportunities hosted online and in person. Write-up descriptions of classes being offered, track registrations, send out reminders for each session, answer questions in our Facebook group, and communicate with students.

Required Skills:

• Experience with MailChimp campaigns
• Strong written communication
• Basic knowledge of Excel
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of Zoom
• Attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Clear communication with DWM staff
• Experience with the Teachable learning platform is a HUGE plus

Video Editor

Help us make our video resources more useful and broaden what we offer in the following ways:

1. Create Videos from Audio Recordings
   Our volunteers have been selecting some of Dallas’s most helpful audio recordings and turning them into videos with slides and pictures that highlight key phrases, display the scripture being read, and list the points under discussion. This not only turns the audio into a wonderful learning tool, but it’s a way of bringing these recordings to YouTube where more people will discover them. (See “Living the Eternal Life Now” as an example of the finished product.)
2. Create Teaching Clips for YouTube Shorts
   Watch or listen to videos and/or audio files of Dallas teaching, select valuable content segments and edit them into 1-2 minute clips for YouTube, social media and for teaching purposes in small groups or sermons. Clips may also be used on social media.

Required Skills:

• Extensive experience with video editing software (i.e., Adobe Premiere, iMovie, etc.)
• Experience with sharing videos on YouTube
• Attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to identify key theological ideas
